everyday makeup

This is generally the makeup I wear everyday. Obviously I'll switch it up sometimes with lipsticks and blusher but in terms of my base (primer/foundation/concealer/powder) I usually stick to these products, If it's not broke don't fix it ;)

Sleek blush by 3 palette in 'lace'

(Crochet, Guipure, Chantilly)

I picked this palette up about a month or so ago and as soon as I saw it I knew I had to get it. It has 3 shades and I would wear all 3 of them! All of them are quite orange toned and I like this as I tend to steer towards coral/peachy blushes anyway. They're all very pigmented so you have to be careful when applying because a little goes a long way. I like how there are the two matte shades (Crochet & Chantilly) and the one shade with a lovely gold shimmer (Guipure). Usually I tend to go for matte shades but I actually think my favourite shade is Guipure, it gives such a lovely glow and looks amazing with a tan! I really can't wait to wear these in summer because they're all such fun bright summery shades :)

For £9.99 I think they're quite the bargain! For 3 intensely pigmented blushes with a decent amount of product in each I think these are a great buy.

They had other shades of these too in: Pumpkin, Flame, Pink Spirit and Sugar. I personally think this was the most wearable palette out of the 5 though.

Chanel Perfection Lumiere foundation - £37 (shade 40 - beige)

Coverage: 4.5/5
Application: 5/5
Long Lasting: 5/5
Shade: 5/5

As you can probably tell, I'm absolutely in LOVE with this foundation. It has literally everything I would look for in a foundation and more. I applied this with my real techniques buffing brush but found it goes on just as easily with my fingers too. It blended in so effortlessly and when it's actually on the skin it feels so silky to touch which I've never experienced from a foundation before. I would say the coverage is medium but is definitely build-able and doesn't look at all cakey on. It has a semi-matte finish, which I like and I find that I don't need to powder this and it still lasts all day (Which on my oily t-zone is amazing!). It has quite a strong fruity smell to it so if you have problems with sensitive skin or perfumes in cosmetics this one may not be for you, but I personally love it. Also the fact that it has SPF10 in is a nice extra and even with flash it photographs nicely. I think the only down side of this 'perfect' foundation is the not-so-perfect price tag of £37.. ouch! However this is genuinely the best foundation I've ever tried so I would definitely repurchase.

next up i'll be trying MAC pro-longwear :)...

search for the perfect foundation #1

Okay, so I know it's pretty much impossible to find the 'perfect' anything! But this is going to be be a series of posts to test out and try and find a foundation that's as close to perfection (for me) as possible. I've been testing out a few different foundations recently and I've collected a few samples from some counters to test out.
What I look for in a foundation is a medium-heavy coverage, without looking cakey obviously, a semi matte finish and I have combination skin and I find anything that claims to be 'dewy' tends to make me look shiny a few hours in to wearing it and finally I like a yellow toned shade as I'm naturally quite pink so I like to counteract that! And also as I usually wear fake tan it tends to blend in better. Also if anyone is wondering about what shades I use (if you're similar to me) I'm NC25/NC30 in MAC foundations for reference :)

Estee Lauder Invisible Foundation - £27.00

Coverage: 3.5/5
Application: 5/5
Long lasting: 4.5/5
Shade: 3.5/5

When I first applied this I was quite impressed, I used my fingers to apply it and found that it blended in really easily. It was quite sheer at first, maybe a bit too sheer than I would usually like so I applied a second layer and found this did the trick. It also felt nice a light on the skin which I liked. In terms of staying power it lasted pretty much all day which I was actually really surprised at, so very impressed at that! One of the only things I wasn't too impressed at was that it was slightly pink toned, and I tend to go for more yellow toned foundations but maybe I just need a different shade! The fact that it doesn't have spf in it puts me off a bit though but it does mean that it photographs quite true to colour in flash photography though. Overall I was impressed with this but there were a few things that may stop me paying the £27 for it.

Next review will be the Chanel Perfection Lumiere foundation so look out for that soon...
